Richard Harvey, MD

Richard L. Harvey, MD, FACS, is a cardiothoracic surgeon who practices with Northeast Georgia Physicians Group (NGPG) Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery in Gainesville. With more than 30 years of experience in medicine, he previously practiced with Piedmont Heart Institute in Macon and with Northside Hospital Gwinnett in Lawrenceville.

Dr. Harvey earned his medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. He completed a Residency in General Surgery through Mercer University and a residency in Cardio-Thoracic Surgery at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He is board-certified in Thoracic Surgery.

Dr. Harvey specializes in cardiac surgery, including mitral valve repair & replacement, minimally invasive surgery, surgical treatment for atrial fibrillation (AFib), and aortic surgery.
